 CAT0ND3NMurgheboluc Cricket Club - 2015/16 GCA1 2nd XI premiers

The MCC was formed in 1930 and is now over 85 years old.  In 2015-16 we fielded 6 senior sides in Division 1 of the Geelong Cricket Association, as well as 6 junior sides in the U/17, U/15, U/13 and U/11 sections of the GCA junior competition, plus a Milo in2cricket program for pre-U11s on Thursday evenings.

Geoff Goodgame, legendary MCC opening bowler of the 1970's, passed away on 13 August 2016 aged 71.  In 158 games, Geoff took a staggering 564 wickets, including 53, 57 and 61 in successive seasons (the latter, in 1974/75, a club record for 25 seasons.  Geoff took 5-for on 33 occasions (best 8/27) and 10 for the match twice.  His batting was, well, interesting.....the only bloke I've ever seen who tried to hit literally every ball out of the ground.  It rarely succeeded but it was great to watch when it did.

Ray Gladman, former MCC President (1968 to 1972) and 1st XI premiership player in 1968/69, passed away on 19 September 2016 aged 92.  Ray played 79 games for the Frogs, claiming 169 wickets in that time.
